We are a small working group of Rampton Parish Council, created in January 2024 to help our community consider how we might live more sustainably – individually and collectively – through lifestyle changes and community projects.
For example some of us may be able to reduce our use of energy while others might be able to change how they travel, what they eat, how much they buy and how they dispose of things. By making often small changes to the way we do things we can help to reduce our living costs while improving our health and environment.
Village Sustainability Survey
We surveyed residents in March 2024 to establish which environmental issues most concern people who live in Rampton such as the destruction of habitats, pollution, plastic waste.
Residents were asked to complete a sustainability survey during March 2024 designed to elicit their views on 3 key areas:1. Community and amenities, 2. Protecting nature and the environment and 3. Lifestyle changes – working towards Zero Waste, with a view to informing the work of both the Parish Council and Sustainable Rampton. 105 residents responded, including 6 children under the age of 17.
A report on the outcomes of the survey was presented to a meeting of the Parish Council on 22 May 2024, at which the Parish Council fully endorsed the report’s recommendations.

Fulfilling the short-term recommendations
We presented a report on activities carried out over 12 months designed to realise the survey’s short-term recommendations at the Annual Parish Council meeting on 22 April 2025.
