Swishes

Rampton’s First Swish

We’re excited to be holding our first Swish or community clothes swap on Saturday 9 October 2024, 11:00 – 13:00, being held at Rampton Village Hall – 4 Church End, Rampton, Cambridge, CB24 8QA.

What’s a Swish?

The clothing and textiles industry produces around 10% of global carbon emissions and is the world’s second largest industrial polluter.  Swishes are community clothes swaps/exchange events, providing a fun and practical alternative to buying new clothes, whilst also enabling people to recycle clothes easily and help reduce the amount of clothing ending up in landfill or contaminating recycling waste streams.

How it works

You bring along any clothes you wish to swap/donate between 11:00-11:45am on the day.
Our volunteers will then hang and display them on rails before browsing starts at 12:00 noon.

Please donate items that are clean and in good condition. We will accept women’s, men’s and children’s clothes, as well as footwear and accessories (no underwear).

While you’re waiting for the swishing to begin you can buy a cuppa and a homemade cake from our pop up cafe to fortify yourself and have a chat with other swishers.

No clothes to donate? No problem, come and grab a bargain/have a cuppa and a chat anyway.

Donations for the clothes you choose are very welcome, and will allow us to cover our expenses and fund future eco events and local sustainability projects.

Clothes left over at the end of the afternoon will be donated to local charity shops.

Our Café will be open from 11:00 am throughout the event. Swishing starts at 11:45am.
