Repair Cafe

We’re excited to be holding our third Repair Café on Saturday 14 March 2025, 11:00 – 14:00.

Rampton Village Hall – 4 Church End, Rampton, Cambridge, CB24 8QA.

Repairs are FREE as they are done by volunteers but donations are very welcome to help cover the cost of running the event.

Types of repairs accepted

We consider repairs of almost anything you can carry including: clothing that needs mending, tools that need sharpening, pottery that needs gluing, jewellery, small household appliances, electrical items, bikes, clocks, mechanical items, sewing machines and much more.

Please note:

  • our jewellery repairer will only be available from 11am to 1pm.
  • we cannot accept microwaves, televisions or anything that is difficult for one person to move on their own.

Bookings are now closed

Drop-ins available on the day

We will be able to accept drop-ins on the day as we always reserve some slots for repairs that turn up on the day. Plus some repairs are likely to be done quickly and there’s always the possibility that repairs that have been booked don’t show up freeing up our repairers to do others.

While you’re waiting you can enjoy some refreshments in our café.

Windows 10?

If you have a computer still running Windows 10 and would like to discuss your options going forwards, we might be able to help. This might be actual assistance with an upgrade to Windows 11 on the day, configuring Extended Security Updates to allow you to keep running on Windows 10, or even considering other Operating Systems. Because of the nature of this type of work we would need to get in contact with you before the Repair Cafe event to discuss your specific requirements – email theramptonrepaircafe@gmail.com with details of your computer.

While we cannot promise to fix everything our repairers will do their very best.

E-WASTE BIN

As usual we will have an e-waste bin on site for the disposal of small electrical/electronic items i.e. anything with a plug that cannot be repaired. You can also use it to recycle any unused cables and leads, giving a new lease of life to the valuable materials they contain. Find out how electrical recycling works: https://recycleyourelectricals.org.uk/electrical-recycling/

Refreshments

Our cafe will be open throughout the event serving hot and cold drinks and delicious cakes – you don’t need to be having an item repaired!

Repair Cafés are fantastic community events which match people who need stuff fixed with people who like fixing things – a win-win!

We’re delighted to be part of the Cambridgeshire Repair Café Network run by Cambridge Carbon Footprint (CCF) and one of the 18 active Repair Café organising groups in South Cambridgeshire.

If you can’t make it on the day, there are additional Repair Cafés being run in the Cambridge area. Details can be found on the Cambridge Carbon Footprint website – scroll down past the FAQs.

This event is run in partnership with Cambridge Carbon Footprint and insured by Wessex Insurance.
