Our first Repair Café was a great success!
Held on Saturday 13 July 2024 at Rampton Village Hall. 55 members of our local and wider community supported the event by bringing in items to be fixed and/or purchasing refreshments.
53 out of the 59 items brought into our first Repair Cafe, Saturday 13 July, were repaired on the day. Another 2 were repaired after the event. This saved 1,195 kg of CO2 emissions, preventing 120 kg of waste from going into landfill. The success of this event was due to the 13 amazingly talented volunteer repairers, including 3 from Rampton, our team of local helpers and bakers.
As a result of the generous donations received on the day, together with proceeds from refreshments, we raised £140 after expenses. This was split between the Cambridge Carbon Footprint and a fund for the cleaning and restoration of the village pond. We’re delighted to be part of the Cambridgeshire Repair Café Network run by Cambridge Carbon Footprint (CCF) and one of the 18 active Repair Café organising groups in South Cambridgeshire.
