Past Repair Cafes

Rampton’s 2nd Repair Cafe – Saturday 15 March 2025

Another successful event!

49 out of the 70 items brought into our second Repair Cafe, Saturday 15 March, were repaired. Another 3 were taken away for repair and 11 others were considered repairable, which means only 7 items couldn’t be repaired but will be recycled. This saved 715kg of CO2 emissions, preventing 89kg of waste from going into landfill.

What a fantastic result!

All thanks to our amazingly talented volunteer repairers and our volunteer helpers, who baked, served refreshments, washed up and helped in numerous other ways. And of course it’s thanks to members of our community for taking the time to support the event and for their extremely generous donations. After covering our expenses (hall hire, insurance, toolkit hire, printing and refreshments for repairers) we should have a surplus of around £200 which will be used to support sustainability projects which will benefit the village and its residents.

Our first Repair Cafe – Saturday 13 July 2024

What a great success!

Held on Saturday 13 July 2024 at Rampton Village Hall. 55 members of our local and wider community supported the event by bringing in items to be fixed and/or purchasing refreshments.

53 out of the 59 items brought into our first Repair Cafe, Saturday 13 July, were repaired on the day.  Another 2 were repaired after the event.  This saved 1,195 kg of CO2 emissions, preventing 120 kg of waste from going into landfill.  The success of this event was due to the 13 amazingly talented volunteer repairers, including 3 from Rampton, our team of local helpers and bakers.

As a result of the generous donations received on the day, together with proceeds from refreshments, we raised £140 after expenses. This was split between the Cambridge Carbon Footprint and a fund for the cleaning and restoration of the village pond. We’d like to thank Rampton Parish Council for supporting the Repair Café by paying for the printing and the Rampton 77 Committee for the loan of a gazebo which provided

Repair Cafés are fantastic community events which match people who need stuff fixed with people who like fixing things – a win-win!

We’re delighted to be part of the Cambridgeshire Repair Café Network run by Cambridge Carbon Footprint (CCF) and one of the 18 active Repair Café organising groups in South Cambridgeshire.

This event was run in partnership with Cambridge Carbon Footprint and insured by Wessex Insurance.
